In regard to provisions it is shown that in London beef has advanced from 5d to 9d per lb, mutton from 5d to Bd, pork from 7jd to Is, bread from 10s 6d to 16s per cwt, flour from 28s to 43g per sack, eggs from Is 2d to 2s 9d per dozen, bacon from B}d to Is per lb, milk from 9Jd to Is per gallon, and tea Is 2Jd to 2s Id per lb. As to fuel, house coal has gone up from 19s 6d to 28s lid per ton, and firewood from 3s to 6s per 100 bundles. In drugs and dressings the tremendous advance can be gathered from the following few items;— Acid aceto salicyl Is 83d t-o 45s per lb. acetone 6d to 2s. amnion, brom 2s to Bs, atropine sulph. lis 3d to 83s per oz, cocaine 4s lsd to los per oz, dextrose 2 S lid to 9s per lb, saccharum 17s 6d to 51s per cwt, sodii salicylas Is 2Jd to 20s per lb. theobrom. soclii sal 12s 6d to 30s, sodii bromid. Is lOd to 7s. phenacetin 3s to 58s, saccharin 19s 6d to 655, zinc oxid. 29s 6d to 90s per cwt. In glassware, generally speaking, there has been an increase in prices of 100 per cent.
