RED CROSS FUND. SPRINGSTON". On Tuesday afternoon <ho Methodist Schoolroom was crowded on the occasion of the first annual meeting of <tho local Bed Cress Society. The Rev. W. B. Scott occupied the chairy The balanoe-sheet showed a credit balance of £54. During the afternoon Mesdamos Boyle, Hill, and Lester motored out from Christ church, and Mrs Hill gave a very interesting address on the work of the parent Society at Christchurch, especially impressing on to indulge in less pleasure and do nx. work for the soldiere. Mrs' Boyle also spoke. Musical items were given by Mrs J. Cce, Misses McCormack and G. Scarlett. The following officers wAre then elected:—President, Mia ,W. B. Scott; secretary and treasurer, Mrs W. Kimber; -the old committee was re-elected. Special votes of thanks were passed to the speakers, the outgoing officers and committee, the trusted of tho church for the use of the schoolroom, and to Mrs A. Thompson. Afternoon tea was provided by the members of the Society. The articles made during the year numbered 10,943.
