RETURNED SOLDIERS.
WEDNESDAY'S RECEPTION IN WELLINGTON. (special to "the press ") WELLINGTON, .Tune 8. In the House of Representatives this afternoon Mr T. 11. Wilford drew the Government's attention to what he described as a deplorable state of affairs in / connexion with the local reception to returned soldiers yesterday. He said that tie men, of whom many were lame, had to find their own way to the Town Hall.. Some of them had to be helped along by their relatives. He hoped that such a thing would never he seen again. The welcome itself was excellent. Mr Massev said this was the first he had any lack of vehicular accommodation. Hitherto the Patriotic Society had supplied the cars. He strongly supported the opinion that no lame op wounded soldiers should be asked to march to the place of a reception, and he would have the matter enquired into with a view to preventing any recurrence.
