Tlittfarrest of a man employed at the Miff Goldmining Company's AVailiao mill for the alleged theft of bullion ias disclosed a remarkable series _of theftsi- of cyanide solution, containing gpld and silver. The depredations apoarenily''extend over a considerable period,; but just how long and to what atenfc.the loss to the company is is not knoirh. In view of the monthly output of £26,000 to £27,000, it would be difdetect small peculations, but the cridenco points to a systematic theft of precipitates containing precious metals by a cunningly devised arrangement;;' A precipitating box was fonnd? concealed _ inside a drain and investigations disclosed that lijras supplied with solution by a small which ran underground, and had ' pem, surreptitiously connected to one 'of the main solution pipes. The plant tras not disturbed, and as a result of Vatihing a man was caught red-handed "arrjing away a billy, containing bullion jirecipitate. A search of the man's bons9 ; royealed a number of tins of precipitate of considerable value, plumbago, and-crucibles for melting precipitate or slimes, and a mould for prodoefflgvbultion ingots.
