RETURNED SOLDIERS.
ATHENIC'S CONTINGENT. About 40 soldiers who rclurnod to New Zealand bv tho Athenic arrived in Lvttelton by tiic ferry steamer yesterday. The Canterbury men were in charge of (lantain It. S. Matthows, N.Z.S.C., and tho>o for further so'uth w?re under the ctire of Major V. Waite, D.S.O. Most of the men were memtors 01 the Main Expeditionary Force, rud had been recuperating in England. Some of them had wooden limbs, showing the nature of the work they Irad been performing. Arrived at Cliristeimreh station, the local men were conveyed to their homes in ears belonging io* ro<?mber« <>f tho Motor Reserve and the Canterbury Automobile Association, whilst, the-southorners went on by tho express.
