THE "WEEKLY PRESS."
♦ The news of the great Naval Battle in the North Sea came upon people on Saturday like a thunderclap. In the "Weekly Press," published this morning, is a full account of the great fight, as well as two illustrations connected with it. A number of New Zealanders were recipients of Birthday Honours, and the portraits of these appear with the announcements. The people of England celebrated Anzac Day with as much fervour as we in the Dominion, and a couple of large pictures in the centre opening show the Anzacs passing through chcering crowds on their way to Westminster Abbey. There are .•".l.so pictures of wounded and convalescent soldiers being entertained at Buckingham Palace, a number out l'or a beagle chase. Verdun is the great centre of the fighting on the Western front, and the many pictures m connexion with the great struggle there will be closely scanned and appreciated, especially the scathing cartoon by Louis Raemaekers. Locally, the two principal events of the week have hoen the Canterbury Park Trotting Ciub's Mooting, and the Christchurch Fouitry Show. There are many spirited illustrations of the principal events .it the Trotting Meeting, and a group of the Show committee is given. All the il"i usual ions are of an up-to-date nature, and that they hit tho public taste is proved hy tiie regularity with which each issue sells out. '
