On Saturday tho children of Aiuberlcy held i', "Mimic Queen Carnival" in aid of the Red Cross Funds. Tho cirl candidates represented tho four candidates in the Queen of the Hffla contest, and the effect presented reflected great credit on those taking paH, especially Miss Eilwn Palmer, who worked in a whole-hearted manner to ensure a successful functior. Tho whole of tho ceremony was' carried out by children, and was held at the public, 'school. The function realised £25. The Queen contest resulted : — Miss Ella Nicholls, Blue and Whito .. 1 Miaa Dorrie Palmer, R«( and Gold .. 3 Miss Dorrie Smith, Green and Whito .. 3 Miss Monica South. Blaek and White .. 4 Mus Nellio Winskill acted a3 Master of Ceremonies, and Miss Eileen Palmer as Mistress of tho Robes. In the evening a children's dance was held, at which tho ceremony was repeated. The secretary wishes to acknowledge with t-baiAs tho following donations: —Amberley Horticultural Society (sale of vegetables') £1 fte, Mrs Douglas £2 13s. Mrs Mutter 4a, Miss Busch 2a, Miss Wornall ss, Miss Byrne 10s, and tho Methodist Sunday School children £1 12b, which money they generously decided to give to the Red Cross in lieu of their annual prizes. Tho following children have sent in knitted bed-socks and washers: — Dorothy and Elsie Feathery, Ella and Ir°Tv* Obery, Hilda Nicholls, May Rhodes, May Mocket, Mavis Stace, Katie Franks, Greta Marsh, Gladys and Audrey Arthur.
