• ♦ CLERGYMAN MURDERED. (By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright.) , 3. An inquest 'was held concerning the death of tho Rev. Mr Metcalfe, an Anglican clergyman, .who was found lying unconscious on tho roadside en routo to his homo after holding a service near Burrowa. His head was battered, and ho subsequently succumbed. A swagman named Murtagh Murphy was found lying near him. He also was unconscious," and when ho recovered he was in a demented condition, and was removed to an asylum. He professed iguorancc of Mr Metcalfc's condition. At tho inquest a verdict of murder was returned against Murphy. ANOTHER STRIKE. (Received Juno 4th, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, Juno 4. Thrco hundred cold storage men struck as a protest against the employers' refusal to grant the increaso of 5s previously awarded. The men decided to handle food for the troops, hospitals, and charitable institutions.
