The conditions are the same as for previous loans, but the amount is unlimited, with a currency till 1920. Applications will close on August Ist. A BLACK HAND SOCIETY. CONCENTRATION CAMP REVELATIONS. A GERMAN'S DEATH. (Received June Ist, 7.50 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 1. An open verdict was returned at the inquest on Hans Portmann, "who was killed in the concentration camp at Holdsworthy. The Coroner said the evidence showed that deceased was a member of fi "Black Hand" secret socicty, which was composed of the worst characters in the camp. They blackmailed and terrified their rich and influential and their physically weak fellow-Germans. The want of evidence to show who struck Portmann was to a well-concerted conspiracy of ignorance lor fear of the consequences.
