(Received June Ist, 7.10 p.m.) ROME, June 1. General Cadorna, Commander-in-Chief of the Italian Armies, reports : — ' The enemy made violent attacks on our positions in the Lagarina Valley, supported by a furious bombardment. The attacking columns were annihilated. The fighting was fiercest at Pasdebuole, where Sicilian and other brigades several times dashed out of their trenches, and drove the enemy back with the bayonet: "The battle is developing between Posina and the upper Astico Valley. An intense . concentration of artillery fire obliged tho Italians to evacuate Mount Priafora, but a desperate counter-attack regained possession of the position. Nevertheless, the violent fire of the enemy's artillery forced us to fall back slightly on the southern slopes of the mountain. We also evacuated Pinta Corbin on the Asiago plateau."
