Tlio High Commissioner reports:—
LONDON, May 29 (4.20 p.m.). Yesterday evening thero were fifteen air combats between French and German machines. Two of the latter wore brought down in flames, one on the border of the Argonne near Monthois, tho other in the region of Amifontaine, north of Bcrry-au-Bac.
In tho courso of a trial flight, one of our pilots was attackod by a FokI kor machine, which fired ovci- a thoui sand cartridges. Under this shower of projectiles, though his machine was riddled with bullets, our pilot returned to his lines pursued by his adversary, who was attacked in turn by a French machine. The enemy fled, but crashed to earth in tho neighbourhood of the Bourgoyne. west of Rheims. West of tho Mcflse, our anti-aircraft guns brought down two German aeroplanes. FATALITY IN KENT. MR TENNANT'S SOX BADLY INJURED. LONDON, May 29. Captain Grime-Jones and Lieutenant Henry Tennant, eldest son of Mr H. J. Tennant, Under-Secretary for War, wens flying on a biplane in Kent, when their machine, side-slipped. Captain Grime-Jones was killed outright, and Lieutenant Tennant seriously injured. NEW ZEALAND HERO. CONGRATULATIONS FOR LTEUT. BRANDON. SYDNEY, May 30. Letters received by the English mail state that congratulations from all quarters were showered on Flight-Lieut. Brandon, who dropped bombs on and damaged a Zeppelin."
