The grunt covers 75 per cent. ': of the cost incurred by the local ' | authorities. ( ! A London message on 'March 2nd said: "The final report of Lord Sydenham's Commission on Social Disease* reveals a most serious condition of things. It says that Government control of what is a national problem is essential, as there is n<j doubt that tho total number of infected persons has increased. The most striking proposal iu tho report is that tho law should permit the annulment of a marriage whoro either party is suffering from such a disease, such decree of nullity not to render the children illegitimate. Doctors' communications to parents in this matter should be privileged. There must be, it says, hotter statisticaf information, also facilities for laboratory diagnosis, moral conduct instruction in all types of education, including workshops. and free modern treatment, in hospitals. All recruits for the Navy and Army should be warned of tho na- . turo of the disease, and the warning repeated at regular intervals." "j =====
