GERMANS SUFFER HEAVILY
(Received April 9th, 5.5 p.m.) PETROGRA3>, April 8. The "Novoe Vremva" reports that the recent thaw flooded a wide expanse of country occupied by the Germans on the Baltic front. Scores of men were drowned. Batches of German soldiers who crawled out of their trenches to escape the -water -were forced back by the Russian bullets, and perished in the icy water. The Russian artillery in one district wrought great havoc on the enemy's troops as they were retreating waistdeep through the water.
