Lloyd's reports that the P. and 0. steamer Simla was Mink in the Mediterranean. Eleven Lascars were drowned. The remainder of the crew were saved. The steamer Vesuvio. which was proceeding from the Mediterranean to London, was torpedoed in the Channel. The captain and live of the crew perished. Three others were injured. The Simla was one of the smallest and oldest of the steamers of the Peninsular and Orient Steam Navigation Co.'s fleet. She was a steamer of SSS4 tons gross register, built in 1594, by Messrs Caird and Co!. Ltd., at Greenock.
