SHUNTER KILLED. At 5.15 yesterday afternoon, a shuii« } ter named James Walls, whilst en- , gaged in shunting operations at the . Christchurch Railway Station, fell • across the rails, it is thought through catching hiß foot in between a switch . and a rail, and had both his legs cut ■ off, the ono above tho knee, the other . below it. He was removed to the Christchurch Hospital in a consciouj condition, and he died at 8 o'clock.°H( ' was a married man 33 years of age, residing in Barbadoes street. Mrs Bultitude was knocked down a( - the corner of Colombo and Cashel streets yesterday by a motor-car, and was badly bruised about tho head, faco, and body. She was taken to tho Christchurch Hospital.
