CENTRE CHALLENGE BADGES
Another match for the centre badges took place on the Kaiapoi green on Tuesday, R-&-ngiopa being the challengers. After a good game Kaiapoi retained possession, the scores being Kaiapoi (WyLie) 22, Rangiora (Angus) 10. PATRIOTIC TOURNAMENT AT LEESTON. A patriotic bowling tournament wa.s opened on the Leeston green yesterday afternoon, under the auspice® of the Elleemere Bowling Association. Repieeenta.tiv3S of the three district clubs, Southbridge, Leeston, and .Dunsandel, are taking part. The •weather yesterday was favourable,. and some very interesting games were • played. The proceeds of- tb« tournament are to go tj the support of the Peninsula and Elleemere Queen. The competitions will be brought to a conclusion to-day, and Miss Birdling will be present this afternoon to present the prizes to the winners. The Leeston ladies provided afternoon tea for the players, and will also provide refreshments this afternoon, when it is expected there will be a: large attendance. LYTTELTON CLUB. With the-object of raising' funds for the support of the Peninsula and Ellesmere Queen, Miss Birdling, theLyttelton Bowling Club has arranged a match to be played on the new green this afternoon between teams representing the East and the ; Weat end. KAIAPOI ASSOCIATION. The seventh annual meet in? of the Kaiapoi Miniature Rifle Association was held in the Drill Hall. Kaiapoi, ou Thursday evening, Mr J. Little presiding. • A motion of sympathy with the president. Mr TV; Simpson, in the death of his mother, was carried. The balance-ahoet, which was adopted, showed receipts £17 2s Id, aud expenditure X'll 10s Id, leaving a credit balance of £5 lis 3d. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patron. Hon. D. It was a-srreed that entries for the Association's competitions should close on April 22nd, and the matches commence in the second week in May. Mr W. J. Ellis, who banded the sum back to the Association as a donation to the prize fund.
