(Before his Honour Mr Justice Stringer.) PRISONERS SENTENCED.

A sitting of the Supreme Court was hold yesterday -morning. Mr >5. G. Raymond. K.C., appeared on behalf of tho Crown. INDECENT ASSAULT. Alexander Maxwell tame up for sentence for having committed on indecent assault 011 a female at Ashburton. He was not represented by counsel, and handed to his Honour a written statement in which he asked leave to withdraw his plea ot guilty. His Honour sentenced prisoner to six months' imprisonment with bard labour, the sentence to be concurrent with the sentence at present being served. FORGERY AND UTTERING. John O'Neill, on two charges of lorgcry and uttering, appeared for sentence, and handed in a. written statement. His Honour, in committing prisoner to prison for one year, to be retained lor reformative treatment, said that he was anxious to give him an opportunity to redeem himself. John Downie Stewart surrendered his bail and came up for sentence on four chargest of forgery and uttering at Christchurch. He handed in a written statement. His Honour committed prisoner to prison, to be retained for reformative purposes for one ;'c«r. He would leave to tho Prisons Board the responsibility of releasing prisoner to go to the front.
