RAXGIORA. The monthly meeting of the Rangiora County Council was held yesterday. Present: Messrs P.' Hor roll (in the chair), M. 11. Stokes, "W. Stalker, j A. Mcintosh, H. Garrett, and L. The Mayor of Rangiora wrote to say that a meeting of representatives ol local bodies and Patriotic Committees iu the lvaiapoi electorate would be held at Rangiora. on Wednesday next, for the. purpose of electing tho candidate in the Queen contest, to be known as the Queen of the North. It was decided to nominate Miss •Tessic Bcj'.vio, of "YVoodend, as the Council's candidate, for the position. A letter v.'as read from the Canterbury Patriotic Committee, asking the Council to nominate some persons in the county to assist the executive in the application of relief to the relatives of the soldiers who have gone to the front. It was decided to nominate Mr ■"■talker for the "Woodend district. Mr Campion for the Cust district, and Mr A. Mcintosh fur the Southbrook district. It. was decided to accept the offer of Mrs T. Blackmore of n section of land at the corner of Raven streetand Cam road. Kaiapoi. for the purposes of tho Patriotic Fund, and to dispose of the section by an art union.
