CADET PARADE.

A GOOD MUSTER. The cadet parade arranged for Saturday afternoon at the King Edward Barracks resulted in a good muster. Fifteen companies, under Captain Xorthcote and Lieut. R. A. Hawkins, adjutant, numbering about 430, fell in at halfpast trvp. During the last six months or so the battalion has improved tremendously, and the lads drawn up in companies presented a very smart appearance as they went through their preliminary movements at the Barracks. "Whether the prevalent martial atmosphere of those stirring times has had anything to do with the improvement in drill efficiency of the cadpts it is' impossible to say, bu't great, credit is due to their commanding officers for the way the battalion acquitted itself on Saturday both in 'inarching and in company and platoon drill in liagley Park. After the battalion had reorganised and rifles had been issued in the barracks, the march to Hagley Park, headed by the Bugle Band, was carried out. , Arrived there, extended orded drill by platoons was gone through, after which a short lecture was given; or, complements, esprit de corps, and the development of soldierly spirit. This was followed by exercises in visual training and judging distances under staff instructors, Sergeant-Major Kennedy, SergeantMajor Minahan, and Sergeant-Major Pound, who "attended throughout tho afternoon.; Company drill concluded the afternoon, and the battalion marched baek to -the barracks after a thoroughly good and instructive afternoon'.! work. Tho following companies paraded No. 78 (Lieut. Hamilton), .No. 79 (Lieut.- AT. Kayc), No. 06 (Lieut. Edgar). No. 10 (Lieut. Brown). No. 17 (Lieut. Amos), No. 83 (Lieut. Page). No. S6 (Lieut. A: - D.
