With characteristic energy New Zealanders have tackled the task of collecting money for our sick and wounded soldiers and their dependents, and this week three of these patriotic gatherings have been held in .Canterbury. Each of these is fully illustrated in the "Weekly <Press," published to-morrow. Tho New Brighton Gala has two pages of excellent snapshots devoted to it, showing all the principal features' of the gala, and representing this pretty watering place as it has never been represented before. The second of the patriotic gatherings is the Banks Peninsula (Jueen Carnival,/ held at Little River, to which also there are given two pages showing the queen, the coronation, and the chief features of the carnival. The third patriotic gathering is the Dominion Bowling Tournament, the whole of the proceeds of which are • for tho Patriotic Fund. A number of snapshots of the players aro given, as well as the visitors at the President's "at home." Among the war pictures is a full page engraving showing how Piper Laidlaw.won the Victoria Cross, as well as a number of othere from the different fronts. A set that will attract considerable attention aro thoso found in the pocket of a New Zealand overcoat pickcd. up at Pope's Post, Gallipoli, and which the Defence I>ei partment have forwarded to tho "Weekly Press," with a view to their identification. Thero are also ' numerous. pictures showing New Zealand wounded in tho hospitals in Egypt and England, lx-sides a number of detached subjects. The issue will rank with tho best turned out, and those who wish to securc copics should put in their orders early.
