DOMINION TOURNAMENT. KEWIOWX WINS RINKS CHAMPIONSHIP. | A large- number of bowlers and others interestcd assembled on the Christchurch green on Saturday afternoon, when the final of tho .Rinks Championship was played :n perfcc' weather. The teams and scores were: — Newtown (C. Dilvis, A. Davies, A. Duff, J. Laughton skip) ID. Christchurch (J. H. Seager, J. Caughley, \Y. S. Atkinson, and R. Caughley got a toucher, but ran on, Davies drew the shot for Mewtown, and with his fcecand drew a second. Tho thirds did not change the head. Torrance, with his first, displaced ono of Newtown's. Laughtou made a change, and Newtown scored 1. Third Head. —Seager got a beauty on with his first, Davi3 lying on each wing. Seager got a second bowl on the kitty, and was applauded. Caughley went through to th« rear. Davies got a nice trail, but did not improve Xcwtown's position. With two ehots against him Laughton drew eecond shot. No other change made, Christchurch scoring I—6 to 1 iii favour of Christchurch. .Fourth Head.—Seager was playiDg with gTcat judgment, and put in two good leading shots. Caughley drew another f° r Christchurch. Duff, with his first, drew ou Caughley, scoring the shot, and received applause, and immediately drew another in the same position. Laughton placed his first in a good position. Torrance, not to be denied, drew right between, trailing kitty, and changing from 3 against t-o 2 in his favour. Laughton again showed to advantage with a fast run and split up the patch, but it failed to alter the position—!) to 1. Fifth Head.—Seager again scored 1. Caughley got another toucher. Davies just kissed kitty, but ran on; Atkinson drew * third. Duff ran into first position, just wresting the lying shot. Torrance, with bis ftrat made a wide draw, and scored the shot. Laughton failed to change the position—lo to 1 in favour of Christchurch. Sixth Head.—The leads were both wide— Caughley drew nicely behind with liis first. Newtown's 6econd player put a beautiful one juet in front between 'the bowl and kitty. The third players were well behind. The keen green beat the players—Wellington scoring their second score—lo to 'J.

Seventh Head.—The first three bowls were wide. Seager drew the shot with liis second. Caughley scored a sccnnd scorer with his first, and got in a good position with his second. Duff fell short. Duff, with his second, sent down a fast one. which went right through. Laughton. with his last, drew right on the kitty, amidst cheers. Tibe bowls were moved before Torrance had played by a Christchurch player, and Torrance's last bowl was forfeited—lo to 3. Eighth Head. —The first and second players were wide, but the result left one in favour of Newtown. The thirds did <io better. The skips also were too sneedv, and Newtown scored—lo to 4. ' Ninth Head.—Caughley got the scorer. » yard behind, and a Christchurch bowl was knocked in for second. Caughley, who was playing very fine, drew tho shot. Duff put down a good one, and just beat Caughley. Atkinson returned the compliment, and got in front of Duff, leaving Christchurch with two scorers. Torrance sent down a fast one. and touched kitty, which lay close to a Newtown bowl—lo to 5. Tenth Head.—Tlio leads wero erratic in their play, nothing being within three yard* of kitty. The jecoilds were no belter. Duff saved the position for Newtown, and lay alongside kitty—a. toucher. Atkinson made a good attempt, but just failed. Laughton dropped one in the draw. Torrance aJso nearly got Newtown's bowl, but just missed —10 to 6 ' ■ Eleventh • Head.—Davis got one on the wing; Seager's second was a measure; Atkinson's second was just behind, but nothing very close. Torrance succeeded in drawing .with his first; Laughton was playing wide and short; one for Torrance—ll to 6. Twelfth Head—Davis touched kitty, and left the position a measure;' Seager faced the Newtown shot, and made tho score two. Daries just passed through, but with his second drew the shot, and was applauded. Duff drew another one for Newtown, and the spectators were lavish with their applause. Atkinson looked well, but just passed through; Torrance,. with his first, travelled the same track, and was resultless, and Newtown added two more—ll to 8 in favour of Christchurch. Thirteenth Head—Davis touched kitty, but went on. Seager was successful with his second, and scored. Davics drew a good second; Caughley stopped in a good position; Duff drew in front of Caughley, and registered the shot. Atkinson drew on the wing into second place. Duff was again to the front,and put in a second scorer. Laughton was not successful, and Torrance just missed the Newtown bowl —11 to D. Fourteenth Head. —Seager got the kitty beautifully. Davis just beat him for position, and' drew a second—a good effort. Duff placed "his first in a danger zone, held by Christchurch. and was successful with his second in the same quarter. Atkinson cannoned on a Christchurch bowl, sending in for two shots. Laughton sent in two fast ones, being successful with his second, and placing two to his credit in lieu of two against. Torrance just 'failed to recover the position—ll all. _ The result wne received with applause. Newtown were playing well in hand. Fifteenth Head.—Davis beat Seager for shot. Caughley played on his own, and sent in for shot. Duff made a good attempt, which just failed. T.orrance sent in another Christchurch bow!, making 2. Laughton failed'to alter, Torranco sending in another, and made 3 of it—ll to 11. Sixteenth Head. —The game was now very interesting, and the interest very kecu. Seager, who came again, put in two nice bowls. Davis was two yards back; Caughley drew into second position. Duff with his second rolled into third • position. Tortance made a good- attempt, which just promoted a Christchurch bowl. With a measure, Christchurch were awarded two shots—l 6 to 11. Seventeenth Head.—Davis rolled into first position. Davies (Aewt° w n) second player drew the second, which Caughley just beat. Atkinson and Duff both passed through the head in good positions. Torrance made two very excellent attempts with his second, sending Seager's • bowl for shot. After consultation, Laughton. essayed a yard-on shot on the back hand, but it just failed in its object, and one went to Torrance. 17 —11. i Eighteenth Head. —Seager proved again the better lead,, laying two scorers. Du! again excelled himself by drawing on the kitty, and he repeated the feat with his second. Duff was ploying grandly for Newtown, and left the head 4 in his favour, which was "not altered by the skips. 17 to 15. * Nineteenth Head. —With three heads to go, and Christchurch two up, the interest was well maintained.. Seager again proved superior to the Newtown lead. Caughley drew a third, and then tho shot itself; neither Davis nor Duff assisted Newtown. It was left for the skip to save, and he wab equal to the occasion, and lay the shot itself, saving 6 points. This feat he repeated with hi 3 second, and was loudly applauded. Torrance failed to save, and the scoro was 17 all.

Twentieth' Head.—With two heads to go and an even game, the interest was intenDavis came to light and turned the tables on Seager, leaving 2 for l\'ewtown. Final Head. —Seager kept up his reputation by finishing a few inches behind kitty. Caughley was short, but hi 6 bowl acted as a baulk; he also failed with his eecond. Daviee, with his second, got kitty, which shot to the left. Atkinson drew a nice shot. Duff promoted slightly, and a question was Taised as to whether it was within bounds. The line . was run over, and the bowl was adjudged out. With hie second he was pacey, and Duff also followed suit. Torrance's first was out of bounds, and with his second he proved just too strong, and Xewtown was left with two points, and won the game—19 to 18— Laughton net playing his second bowl. Laughton, the pkip of the winning rink, the Bowling Banner, which is • a handsome piece of work, given by the ladies of l>unedia on the occasion of the Tournament held in Dune<jin in 1014. In making the presentation, he congratulated the Xewtown team upon their 6uccess. It was a good sign, he said, when players came from long distances to play just for the honour of the game, there being no prizes.
