EARTHQUAKE SHOCKS.
DAMAGE DONE AT RABATJL. (By Cable.—Preas Association.—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, January 14. Senator Pearco lias been advised that an earthquake at Rabual on January 4th caused numerous and severe landslides. Houses were shaken down at Toma. In Rabaul harbour the ■water roso ten feet. Numbers of buildings and the jetty were badly strained. SYDNEY, January 14. TIIO Seismograph at the Rjyerview Observatory recorded an earthquake of great intensity . five hundred miles north-east of Port Darwin. The shock ■was the most severo yet experienced.
