Vancouver papers to hand by this week's mail give particulars of the sudden death of Mr Thomas Morrill, formerly of Auckland. On November 23rd Mr Morrin, Mho was 77 years of ;igf, was walking along one of the corridors of the Rogers Building, in Vancouver, when he -was seized ■with, an attack of apoplexy, which resulted iu his death before medical assistance could be obtained.

Mr Ashmead Bartlett, the English war correspondent, whose despatches from Gallipoli mado his name familiar out here, will arrive in Sydney by the Sonoma from San Francisco on FebSth, on a lecture tour of Australia and New Zealand. He gives his first lecture in the Sydney Town Hall on Saturday, February 12th.

Mr Harold Ashton, who for a. number of years has beon prominently connected with the J. C. Williamson organisation, has bcenjippointed associate director to tho firm in Australasia. Mr Ashton returned recently from South Africa, where for two years he was in charge of the firm's interest as managing director iirthat country. Ho'will leavo in a few days for a six months' tour of America in search of artists and attractions for J. C. Williamson. Ltd.,. in Australasia and South Africa.

Under date of November 24th, our London correspondent writes: Sister Jessie Falconer (Christchurch) has for the past five months been on the .staff of the Military Hospital, Mount Vernon, Hampstead. She has received instructions froni the War Office to sail by the hospital ship. Tagus, to tho Mediterranean,, this week, and she is looking forward with keenness to being posted to duty nearer to the firingline. Major T. Mill, R.A.51.C. (Geraldine), who has boon in chargo of the Beaufort Military Hospital, Bristol, for several months, has been appointed Registrar of the New Zealand Hospital at Walton-on-Thanies, subject to War Office approval, and will enter upon his new duties on December loth.

Mr C. E. Tisdall, a member of the Legislature of British Columbia, ,a brother of Mr W. H._ Tisdall, of Christchurch, has been appointed a member of . the Cabinet, taking the portfolios of Minister for Public Works and Railways. A reconstruction of the Cabinet was rendered necessary, Sir Richard Meßrido, K.C.M.G., the Premier, being appointed Agont-Gene-ral, and the Hon. „W. J. Bowser has •*;ken the Premiership. Tho Hon.; Mr Tisdall was first elected, as one of tho members for Vancouver city in 1908, and has held tho scat since then. Ho is one of the leading pioneer business men cf tho city, and takes a keqn' interest in the commercial life of tho province. His appointment as a member of the Cabinet is looked upon as a most suitable one. . '
