METHODIST CHURCH.
ST. . ALBANS CIRCUIT. The quarterly meeting of the St. ! Albans Methoaist Circuit on Tuesday evening was attended by thirty officials. Votes of condolence were passed to the relatives of the late Messrs R. Dulieu and J. Howarth, two officebearers who had rendered efficient service. The membership was reported as 313. The balance-sheet showed ia deficit of £21 10s Id, including a debtor balance of £17 14s 3d carried forward from last quarter. The report and balancesheet were adopted. _ ; In view of the immediate departure of the Rev. A. A. Bensloy for Trentham, the Rev. H. E. Bellhouee agreed to attend to the pastoral work in connexion with the Ed pre ware road Church till the end of ilarch. Doubt having been expressed; that in consequence of so many of the clergy having enlisted the conference would be unable to appoint a it was decided that if such a contingency' arose the circuit would make its own arrangements for supply. A communication was received from the Rev. A. E. Lawry, of Auckland, accepting the invitation to become the superintendent of the circuit in-succes-sion to the Rev. H. E. Bellhouse, who will comnlete his five years' term, in April. Officials were appointed as follows V-e Circuit stewards, Messrs R. A. Tucker and T. Brain; foreign mission treasurer, Mr W, H. Walker; home mission treasurer, Mr A. D. Hassall. Mr W. Simpson was appointed' representative to the conference, and Mr A. D. Hassall as substitute. It was decided to contiime the appointment of Miss as deaconess. Financial arrangements were mad© for the stipend of the Rev. A. A. Benteley up to the end of the quarter. Mr W. H. Haigh, having removed to Dunedin, a motion appreciative of his work at St. Albans" was heartily agreed to. ( It was arranged that Messrs F. M. Brown, G. Simpson and A. Bowbyes should be associated with the circuit stewards in carrying out the necessary renovation of the parsonage.
