CASHEL STREET FIRE.

AN APPRECIATION. Yesterday Superintendent Warner,of the City Fire Brigade, received the following letter from Messrs J. Ballan-' tyno and Co., which, speaks for it'self: — "Faced as we arc this morning -with proof of the splendid services rendered by your brigade, we feel ourselves unequal to tender an adequate measure of thanks ior your efforts, but we can, assure you that tho service is one for which wo shall ever bo grateful, and we feel that in your brigade the city. has an efficient body of men of which she ■ can well be proud. We realise that the very slight damage done to our premises is due to the prompt response of the brigade, and ,to the very wholehearted manner in which the members worked to suppress the outbreak, and !we feel ourselves indebted to your brigade f9r -tho care exercised to prevent any undue damage. As a slight expression of our appreciation of the valuable services rendered us, we have great pleasure in enclosing a cheque (£o ss) which, with your privilege, we shall be glad to see passed to the men's recreation fund. '
