Williams, of St. Clair, received a cnble.gram from the War Office announcing that her . brother. Lieutenant Neleon Alfred Power Johnston, was killed in action oa,. November 27th. Lieutenant Nelson Johnston was born in Dunedin. Ho joined the Monntcds, and went into camp at Tahunn Park in 1 August of last year. In' Egypt ho accepted an offer from the. Imperial authorities, and studied for the officer's examination, obtaining a very high average in his pass. He was at onco offered a lieutenancy in the Lancashire Fusiliers, and was attachod to tho famous Twenty-ninth Division. Ho was made acting-adjutant, and proved his. fitness for that rank. Ho exciting experiences in tho trenches at Suvlft Bay. In one fight ho was one of six officers lefi out of 22. For gallant services ho was recommended for tho Military Cross. Ho was only 22 years of ago.
