Tharc was a vigorous debate on tho Hotel Hill in the Legislative Council. Members urged the necessity for controlling tho liquor traffic,, particularly in the interests of Boldicrs. A majoriTy of the speakers considered the proposal to close hotels at 10 p.m. was inadequate. The Government was charged with not meeting the problem adequately, and being afraid of vested interests. One member said the only solutii>n was to kno-. k out vested Interest* by nationalisation of the traffic. Tjlo debate was adjourned till Tuesday.
