LEESTOX.

The sixth annual flower 6how under the auspices of tho Leeston Presbyterian Church was hold in tho Town Hall on Thursday. Ideal weather conditions prevailed, and_ tho attendance was exceptionally good. Tho proceeds from the annual shows, which usually amount to about £70, have in the past been handed over to some of the funds connected with the church, but this year the money ia being equally dividod between the Canterbury Patriotic Fund and the Preebyterian orphanage at Christcliurcli. The latter institution, it is stated, has for some time been caring for children of soldiers who have gono to the front. In the absence of Colonel the Hon. It. Heaton Rhodes, memfcer for tho district, the Hon. C. A. C. Hardy, M.L.C., opened the show, and congratulated the people upon tho splendid display they had made. Mr 11. Nairn, who judged the flowers, fruit, and vegetables, expressed himself agreeably surprised with tho fine display made, notwithstanding the unfavourable season. The cookery exhibits were judged by Misees Rennie and McMillan. Various stalls and competitions were ran in conjunction with tho show, which was a great success financially and otherwise. PRIZE LIST.
