THE REINFORCEMENTS.

MEDICAL EXAMINATION. The weekly medical examination of recruits for the Reinforcements was held at the King Edward Barracks last evening, under the direction of Licut.-Colonel Anderson, principal medical ofljeer. Fifty-three men presented themselves for examination, and about a third were passed as fit. Some of tho men who were rejected expressed very keen disappointment, and were inclined to think that the medical men had been too strict. The proportion of recruits for tho infantry was comparatively email, and Captain Northcote stated to a reporter that he wished it generally known that no further men were wanted at present for any units other than the infantry and mounted branches. At least 200 men were wanted immediately for the infantry, and ho would etrongly advise all men -who were anxious to get away soon to enlist in that branch. Men who had signed on for other branches could, if they desired, be transferred to the infantry by notifying the Defence officers. He also said that many men who were rejected ae temporarily unfit were very dilatory in having their defects attended to, and it would greatly aid tho officers if these men were more prompt in the matter.
