POLITICIANS AND THE RECRUITING CAMPAIGN. (Received September 27th. 9.55 p.m.) SYDNEY, September 27. There is a great ontcry against tTie Government's admission that the politicians and other peoplo engaged in the recent recruiting campaign received out-of-pocket expenses. Several have written to the Press stating that they refused to acccpt payment for their services. Recruiting in the Newcastle district has been suspended, owing to the outbreak of smallpox. QUEENSLAND WAR FUNDS. BRISBANE, September 27. The Patriotic 3>ay Fund totals £160,000. THE PREMIERS' CONFERENCE. (Received September 28th, 1.40 a.m.) MELBOURNE, September 27. Tho .Premiers' Conference resumed discussion of the financial requirements of tho States. Mr* Fisher announced that tho deliberations wore hopeful.
