RUSSIAN SUCCESSES. GERMAN ATTACKS REPULSED. (By Cablo.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received September 27th, 9.55 p.m.) PETROGRAD, September 27. ' An official communique Btates: — "The position on the Dvinsk front is quioter. Many attacks near Vileika wero repulsed. We carried with the bayonet the fortified village of Ostroff, north-west of Vileika. "We crushed the enemy's desperate resistance near Podlugie, eastward of Novo-Grodek, and captured six hundred Germans, ma-chine-guns, and two supply columns of artillery ammunition ana munitions. We captured the village of Podlugie. Further south we drove the Germans back across the Strumane. GERMAN CLAIMS. SUCCESSES IiT"THE NORTH. (Received September 28th, 1 a.m.). AMSTERDAM, "September 27. A German official communique states i -r"Marshal von Hindenberg's troops bnoke through at several points west of Woloshin. We attacked and drove the Russians over the JBeresina north-west of Svershin. Further south we reached the Niemen near Die Eleatitaschi, capturing nine hundred men." AUSTRIAN REPORT. RUSSIAN ATTACKS REPULSED. September 28th,. 1 a.m.) AMSTERDAM, September 27. An Austrian communique says:— ■"The enemy with great forces attempted to break our front near Novo Alexiniec .-(near the Galician frontier). . The battle lasted several days and ended in a complete Russian,defeat. \The enemy yesterday attacked ten times B °uthvvard of Novo Alexiniec, but were repulsed.
