Tha ex-Maoriland Company's steamar EnnordaJo, which is, now of the Union Connpmy's fleet, wo® ropamed Koliilit at Wellington on Friday. ■ .... Cabled advice has been received eUtiag that the New Zealand Shipping Company's chartered steamer Maman loft Montreal on Thursday for Australian and New, Zealand ports. Sho is due at Lyttelton about December 7th. An arrival at Wellington on Saturday was the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Axawa, from London, via ports. A succession of strong galea was encountered botyreero Capo Town and Hobart, and on one occasion a jig sea broke over the starboard side of the' vmsel, doing considerable damage to bulwarks, doors, etc., and flooding tbo saloon and cabins. Tho weather afterwards be-came-mom favourable, and the Arawa called at Hobart on Sunday last. Resuming her voyage on Tuesday, tbo' vessel had another • day's bnd weather to face until it moderated, enabling her to reach port as above. She is due at Lyttelton towards tho end of tho week. _ After a fine weather passage from JTewthe Union Company's collier Kauri arrived at Lyttelton on Saturday afternoon, and was berthed at Gladstone pier to discharge her cargo of coal. AEON ARRIVES FROM NEW YORK. A STORMY PASSAGE. Well up to timo, the Commonwealth and Dominion Line's chartered steamer Aeon arrived at Lyttelton on Saturday night from Now York, via tho Panama Canal, and was berthed yesterday morning. By her appearance it was evident that the Aeon had encountered a stormy passage, as her wheel-house was seen to be badly bulged in, and so it proved. Captain Firth stated that the vessel left the American port on August 18th and arrived at Colon* on the 26th, clearing tho Canal at Balboa the following day. Uptil September 20th fine weather was experienced, but later on in tho day it suddenly changed, and. in a lew hours tho Aeon was in the midst of * westerly hurricane. Had it not been for tho fact that is a splendid sea boat r (Captain Firth says sho is the best north of the line) the Aeon would have suffered more damago than she did. As it happened, sho escaped with no more damage than that to the wheel-house*. Tbo conditions gradually became easier and the voyage was completed without any further mishap. Captain T. C. Firth, who is in command, in well known in tho Australian inter-stato trade. His previous visit to New Zealand wa» about thirty years ago; and his recollections of the occasion are not very pleasant. Ho was.then in the barque Oceania and tho ship ran ashore on Tom's Rock, Wellington, where <aho subsequently bccame a total wreck. 1 The officers associated with him are:-— • Chief, Mr R," Arth arson; second, Mr H.
