POET ALBANY'S RECORD TRIP. A nantiral rccord was established by tho Commonwealth and Dominion liner Port Albany, which arrived at Lyttelton at 6.20 p.m. yesterday from Auckland. Tho vowel, which is making her first visit to the port, left Auckland at 4.15 p.m. on Wednesday, and from the" time the order was given "full speed ahead" in Rangitoto Channel, until arrival at Lyttelton. the passage of 673 milea was accomplished in th© smart timo of 48 hours 52 minutes, or 50 hours from wharf to wharf. The Port Albany is quite a now steamer, having boon launched only ls«t year. On her prenent voyage from Home she ra.n from Newcastle to Auckland in 3 days i.6 hours, averaging 14.1 knots per hour. Her average speed from Auckland to Lyttelton w«s 13J knots per hour, the difference being acoounted for by a southerly swell and a northerly wind. The previous best icoord, 56 hour*, was held by, the Shaw, Sitvill and Albion Company's Corinthic.
