LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
Wednksdat, JtTLY 28. The Council met at 2.30 p.m. LEAVE OF ABSENCE. The Hon. J. A. Miliar wn« granted further leave of absence for three weeks. IMPREST SUPPLY BILL. An Imprest Supply Bill f or £903,000 was passed through all its stages. COOK ISLANDS BILL. The Cook Islands Bill was read a second time a-d referred to the Statutes Revision Committee. CHAIRMAN OF COMMITTEES. The Hon. W. C. F. CARNCROSS, who was re-elected Chairman of Committees, returned his sincere and hearty thanks for the distinction that had been conferred 0 n him. He regarded it as a great honour, and would do his best to justify the position. The Hon. Sir FRANCIS BELL congratulated tho Hon. Mr Carncross on his re-election, and als 0 congratulated the Council on having one so competent to fill tho position, and one who had been so consistently courteous in carrying out the duties in the past.
