FIERCE FIGHTING ON THE CABSO PLATEAU. (By Cable.—Pices Association.—Copyright.) ROME. July 27. A communique says: — "Wo occupied Monte Lavanech, and established ourselves on the height*. dominatin E the right slopes of the Val Dogna. The struggle continues ior Nero. "Despite the fog preventing our artillery from co-operating, the battle continued on the Carso plateau yesterday. Our troops advanced the whole front with great dash and gallantry, and "captured a very strong position at San Micheie, dominating a great part of tho plateau. They were made the targets of a violent cross-fire from many batteries of every calibre, and forced to fall back a little beneath the crest, where they maintain themselves." THE AUSTRIAN VERSION. AMSTERDAM, July 27. An Austrian communique claims that the Italian attack on tho Carso plateau was again repulsed after heavy hand-to-hand fighting. MORE POSITIONS WON. (Received July 28th, 9.45 p.m.) ROME, July 28. An official statements says: — "In Antro we progressed towards the heights of San Marino, driving out the enemy from his covering trenches and redoubts at the bayonet's point. On our right at nightfall wo carried out a brilliant action with the object ot straightening our line. We, drove the enemy out of Monte de Seduisi inch by inch We look 3200 prisoners, much ammunition, rifles, and supplies, after a day of bloodshed."
