IMMIGRATION OF BELGIANS.
DISCOURAGED BY BELGIANGOVERNMENT. (press association- telegram.') WELLINGTON, July 19. In reply to a letter forwarded by tho New Zealand Government in April last to the Belgian Minister in London/regarding immigration of Belgians to tho Dominion, tho following cable messag'.was received to-day :— With reference to your letter of 7th April, the Belgian Minister states that, owing to the heavy loss in population sustained during thc war, the Belgian Government much regret thoy are unable to consider the »;uggcsiion for the encouragement of immigration of Belgian women. They wish to express thanks for the kind proposal of tho Now Zealand Government.
