AVONSIDE BRANCH.
A meeting of ladies was held in the Avonside Schoolroom yesterday for the purposo of forming a branch of the Red doss* in the Avonsido district. There were thirtynine people present. During tho afternoon tho sum of £2 15s-was collected from those ■in tho room, and monthly subscriptions, ! amounting to £i 15s. were promised. Miss ! Freeman, eecietary of the Christchurch « branch of the Red Cross, addressed the j meeting. The following officers were elected: —President, Mrs Watkins; vice-pres'dent, Mrs Cooper; secretary, Miss E. Aiken; committee, Mesdarnea Rtissell, Brittaa, Otlev, Lello. Aitken, McGregor, and Miss Spros—.
