Last evening tho Borough Council granted the Mayor (Mr Norton Francis) two months' leavo of absence, to take effect immediately; The Mayor stated that ho had been asked by the Defence Department to co to Samba, fie had tried to get them to find a sub-, stitnte, as he disliked leaving his posi- . tion so soon after the election, hut 50 far no one had been found, and ho had to go. - ,
