SUBSCRIBER£ TO HARVEST FESTIVAL. WAIPARA COUNTY LIST. . A meeting of the Belgium Harvest Festival Committee was hejd at Waikari on Thursday. Mr R. Evans in the chair. The .statement of accounts, and balancesheet, a« read, were approved, and the list of subscribers w_u_ ordered to be sent to the newspapers for insertion. A resolution was passed expressing tho committee's approval of the way Mr Evans (at tho meeting of tlie- Central Committee in Christchurch for the allocation of the Fund) expressed tlio opinions of those whom lie re-prt-sented, who aro stiU of the opinion that the interests of the Belgians would have been better served had they been given effect to. Mr Evans then presented Miss Allen, the late North Canterbury District candidate for Queen, with a gold pendant and chain, as a souvenir of the Festival, and as an e_cpr_»sion of the County's appreciation of the way she had given her services to help her sisters of another nation in distress. Mr Evans also presented Mre Taylor with a purse of sovereigns from the residents for her work in connexiou with the Festival. Mr Douglas moved—"That this meeting express the thanks of the ratepayers to tho members of the County Council and their* assistants for their work in connexion with the Festival, and hope they will continue as a committee until such time as tbe work is brought to a clo.se." The motion was seconded by Mr X«_wton and carried.
