CONCERT AT CHEVIOT.
On Saturday evening the fifteenth of Mr Alpcrs's scries of meetings was hold at Cheviot. Mrs T. Geo wae chairman. TLo concert party comprised Mrs Cother, Misses V>, Righton, Dulcie Mitchell, and Hilda Nixon, Jlceere C. Joll, W. • Inglo, H. Watte, I. C. Raphael, L. Cookson, and S Brett. A silk Belgian flag, mudo by Mrs Puschel, of Doinctt. realised £17, and a. patriotic cushion presented by Mr 3 Bradehaw, of Chriatchuxch, £12. Tho whole proceeds of the concert exceeded £50, Mr Alpers gave an address on the usual hr.ea, nud inedu a stirring appoal to tho youn™ m&n of, tbo district to enlist. A largo miniber of recruits offered themwlvce for eorvico after the meeting. Mr Croorgo r orbes. M.P in euJojrising Mr Aipers's work, said Mr Alpors had etiniulated intercut in the present groat issue, and encouraged recruiting, .and incidentally bad benefited the Belgium fund by these mcetiugs by £860.
