THE ZEPPELIN RAID.
DESTRUCTION TN SUFFOLK. NO FATALITIES. • LONDON. April 30. The Zeppelin which visited Suffolk in the early hours of Friday morning dropped two explosive and three incendiary bombs in Ipswich: Two middle-class houses were burnt out. Their occupants were In bed, and had remarkable escapes, the bombs falling in the back of the houses. One fell into a bedroom in which a twelve-year-old cirl wae sleeping. The furniture immediately burst into flames, but the father rescued the child. . The explosion caused many to run out into the streets in the. scantiest of clothing. The incendiary bombs at ■Bury St. Edmunds set fire to a shop and stable. Three more bombs fell in the suburbs. The Zeppelin was at a great height, and sailed in a westerly direction. The High Commissioner reports: — LONDON. April 30. The Zeppelin which raided Ipswich and Bury St. Edmunds eiirly thie morninp, dronned twenty bombs in the lastnamed nliice. Thireo houses were destroyed." One bomb fell in. the bedroom of a sleeping child, who was rescued by her father. At Bury four shops and a public hall wero gutted, and an hotel damaged. The airship was first seen at Felixstowo, at a great height. Ten bombs wero dropped at Bury St Edmunds. Thence she made eastwnrd ■ * One bomb set fire to St. Andrew's Hall, which was gutted. Tn a neck-to-nock race, the hurled five bombs at a fast tram at Bury St. Edmunds, but missed it.
