ADMIRAL YON SPEE'S CHIVALRY.
OFFENSIVE TOAST REFUSED. LONDON, April 30. The Hon. W. L. Allardyce, ex-Gover-nor of the Falklands Islands, relates that after the Battle of Coronel, the German colony at Valparaiso banqueted Admiral yon Spec. The final toast was, "Damnation to the British Navy." Admiral yon Spec rose and said neither he nor, his officers would respond to that toast, and withdrew from the room. At the door, observing that flowers had been strewn on the steps in his honour. the Admiral remarked: "Better keep these for my grave. They may be wanted."
