WATCHING ITALY.
(Received May 2nd, 5.30 p.m.) ROME, May 1. The "Messagero" reports that there are three hundred thousand German troops in the Trentino, and half a million Hungarians and croatians at Gorizio, and niuety thousand at Pola. Austria's military activity is increasing. VENICE, May 1. A company of Austrian troops, with officers, deserted and fled to Asiago. Many mounted men from Galicia are refusing to return to the front, and have crossed the frontier.
