PLIGHT OF FRENCH IN OCCUPIED TERRITORY.
OFFICER'S INTERESTING ADMISSIONS.
(Received April Snd, 5:5 p.m.) PARIS, April 1. The Germans arc expelling the inhabitants of the Argonne, the valleys of-tho Meuso and the Alamo, and Alsace. German "officers admit that the feeling of the inhabitants is detrimental to German-soldiers. All houses havo been searched, and food seized. Refugees aro flocking to French towns in a pitiable condition.. A lieutenant on the Headquarters' Staff told a lady- refugee that Germany had been deceived, and they now believed .themselves that all that remained to be done wa6 to try to defend their line. Alany of the soldiers were mere boys, three thousand of whom passed through Buzancy. Of these thrco-fourths were now dead.
