WELLINGTON.

Heavy wind and a downpour of rain this morning made things unpleasant for those contemplating outings, but by midday the weather had cleared ut) and tho afternoon was fine, but breezy. The morning's showers caused a postponement of the Provincial Tennis Championship Meeting, but the local Bowling Centro pairs tournament was started in tho afternoon. Otherwise the day passed quietly.
