("Tim«e"' and "Sjdney Sun' , Services.) (Received March 4th,- 0.45 p.m.) LONDON, March 4. The Naval Correspondent of "The Times," commenting on the Dardanelles operations, says it is impossible for any of the Allies' ships to have passed 'the Narrows. The most difficult part of the business is yet ahead, the destruction of forts in the Narrows, where thoro are earthworks in addition to batteries. Probably, altogether, there are a score of defensive positions still to be reduced. The position of some of the inner forts is such that possibly they cannot bo ongaged _by ships at long ranges. It has hitherto been considered that warships were not built to attack chore defences, hut the advent of long-range guns and scientific methods, ensuring accuracy, throws new light on .tho problem.
