VICTIMS UNABLE TO MAKE STATEMENTS. (PRKSS ASSOCIATION TELKGIIAir.) NAPIER, March 3. Alice Parkinson, who shot a young man named Bert "West and herself last evening, was operated, on during the 'night, but tho bullet was not extracted. Her condition is improving. West's condition is still extremely [critical, and he is unconscious.
Owing to both victims being in a serious condition and unable to make statements, * details of tho incidents leading up to the affair are meagre. ■
• West and Miss Parkinson had been on intimate terms ior some time. The girl had obtained a marriage license from the Registrar, but tho parties' had not married. Miss Parkinson met West with a man named Ford, and they had an altercation. Ford tried to inters •veue, but without effect. West atid Miss Parkinson left him and\entered a clump of willows near by, whenoo shortly afterwards shote were heard.
, This evening there is a elight imprpyement in the condition of West and Miss Parkinson. •
