RISE IN PRICE OF FLOUR.
(PBESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) TIMARU. January 8. Timaru bakers to-day received notice from the millers that the price of flour is to be increased by £2 or £3 being uncertain of the amount till the Government proclamation is issued. Tbe present nrice is £13. The bakers, anticipating a rise to £16. give an assurance of an immediate increase in bread from 8d and 4d to 9sd and od for tlio 41b and 21b loaf respectively, cash only. They state that with flour at £13 per ton there, is no profit on bread at 8d and 4d.
