Wanganui folk are finding out that it is a mistaken policy to send" luxuries to local soldier boys encamped at Trentham. In order that the local contingent might enjoy a few' luxuries at Christmas time! a number; of amateur gardeners sent two truck loads of vegetables, but .enquiries are how being made as to what became of them. It is quite certain that with the excep-, tion ot a small quantity of cabbages, the Wanganui boys got nothing of the collection of peas, beans, lettuce, potatoes, etc., which was sent.- - Comnlainte also have been received* locally that despite the fact that funds were subscribed for Christmas luxuries the object was not carried out, bread and cheese being the main fare for the troops on Christmas Day.'-:- ■'.
