Acceptances for the Ashbnrton Trotting Club's Shimmer Meeting arc duo to-morrow evening. ~„ . The Canterbury Park Trotting Club lias received very good nominations for its Summer Mooting, which is to »o held on January Ist and 2nd. The principal races havo drawn the majority of tho high-claes horses at present "in commission, and tho Meeting should bo marked by some very interesting racing. At a mooting of tho committee of the South Canterbury Jockey Club laet week, ill- J. S. Turnbull, tho club's architect, waited on the committee with plans for an outside stand, which ho explained m detail. He did not intend using tho timber from tho eld stand. Tho estimated cost was very considerably in excess of the amount allocated. "Tho matter was thoroughly discussorl after the architect had retired, and it was considered that it- "'as impossible at the present time »o proceed with the work as suggested by tho architect., but it was felt that some provision must be made for the oute'.de public, .at, least temporarily, and tht» Ground Committee were authorised to givo effect to the suggestion. A letter was read from the Great Britain, Ireland and Belgium Relief Fund asking for a donation. All tho speakers expressed tho greatest sympathy with tho movement ai-i notwithstanding the heavy indebtedness of tho club, it was resolved to donate the same sum os that previously voted for tho equipment of tho Force, namely, one hundred guinea-.. Mr B. Guinness, who has \ah for the front, wrote resigning. It was resolved "That ail members of tills club during their absence on active sorvice bo made honorary members."
